I think there is a lot to be learned here. Jamaica is the most spiritual country I have ever been to by far. Church today was a completely different experience. No sleeping there. The church is a one room with corrugated iron roof, and no sound system but the pastor was very loud. There were no instruments but tambourine but the singing was also very loud and enthusiastic. Everyone dressed up (even me) and it was very hot but I didn't mind.

Jamaica is a poor country, but not that poor. It's warm here, and there's lots of food. The base gets its water by collecting rainwater and they use a bit of bleach to kill the nasty microorganisms. It's sunny in the morning and rains in the afternoon. On my way up to the greathouse and the computer, I was swarmed by a large group of young girls. They nearly dragged me to the ground and suffocated me but fortunately one of the staff called them off. I love the fact that kids aren't afraid of strangers here and they play wherever they want to.

Fortunately for me, the base has a riding lawn mower that is broken down, so I get to fix it. I had a lot of fun last year playing with the discipleship house lawnmower too. I like to feel useful, so fortunately there are a number of pressing maintenance items at the base. The curriculum will be intensive. Unfortunately I think there will be some memory verses, and the last time I tried a memory verse it was a complete disaster so please pray for me for memory and focus. Gotta go eat dinner.

Peace and Grooviness,

Chris
